The LUMINARIUM

The Luminarium is demountable and transportable and is equipped with an amphitheatre of seats, a complex sound infrastructure and a set of linked, 360 degree, 6k laser projectors.  It is the biggest, and in fact the only, project of this type in the world and the first to mix the reality of live opera with generated, immersive content in a theatrical environment.

The Screen

The key feature is the presence of the overhead 360 degree screen, which covers the entire roof.   The screen replaces the sets and backdrops of traditional opera. It’s a high definition, perforated acoustic shell that absorbs sound and can display anything from live coverage of the orchestra and players, to generated or animated content.  The auditorium completely surrounds the audience, above, behind and on all sides, immersing them in a controllable reality that can be augmented and amplified to intensify the focus of everything that happens on stage.

FULLDOME

Words cannot describe, nor pictures do justice to, the effect of fulldome projection over the audiences beneath it.  This is a hugely technical environment but its purpose is to provide a rich, artistic and immersive experience that will embrace the audience and mine their emotional core.

An all-encompassing world of unimaginable power
and infinite flexibility.

The ‘heavy-lifting’ required to produce a fulldome production can only be acheived by members of the fulldome community; a deep pool of talented, creative individuals who work at the cutting edge of one of the most high-tech industries on the planet, mixing computer generated and live action content in fulldome screens around the globe.

How is it DONE?

Three of the most respected companies in the world are helping to ‘imagineer’ the Opera Réale.

There are many moving parts to building The Opera Réale.

,Apart from the design of the Luminarium itself  there is  the construction of the auditorium acoustics and the production of the highest quality 6k content – as well as the creation of the productions themselves.

We are therefore collaborating with a number of specialists, who bring a unique blend of world-class experience to the table.

Some have produced the gigantic projection arrays for the recent Brit Awards ceremony and the  Eurovision Song Contest, whilst others have built landmark domes in Denmark, Europe’s largest science theatre in Hamburg and generated the only 8k photography of the Aurora Borealis.

With their help, we can be certain that, in the short term at least, there will be nothing like the Opera Réale anywhere on earth – or beyond!
